Luta Livre Esportiva is a grappling style of Martial Art from Brazil. It focuses on take downs and ground fighting with the aim of obtaining a dominant position and working for a submission hold forcing your opponent to submit by means of tapping out. Matches can also be won by scoring points given for reversals, sweeps and throws.
The benifites of learning Luta Livre Esportiva are improving ourselves as persons through physical conditioning, mental development , emotional control and self defence. It's great fun also.

Each belt also has 4 tabs ( black stripes ) which can be awarded to show progress towards the next belt level.
Grades can only be earned through dedicated training and hard work.
All Grading is carried out by Luta Livre Black Belt Marcelo Brigadeiro.

Luta Livre is Portuguese for Free Fight, meaning that originally fights would be contested with out clothes. In modern times we wear Shorts and t-shirts to train, with students also wearing their appropriate coloured belt.
Classes follow a structure of a good warm-up, dynamic stretching followed by drilling the techniques to be worked that session and ending with free rolling to allow the student to practise utilising the techniques in an alive environment with a resisting partner.
Luta Livre is a great way to keep fit, lose weight and learn realistic self defence.
